A Montgomery Summer: Liberty Street, Lake Conroe, and the Loop That Ties Them Together

A Montgomery Summer: Liberty Street, Lake Conroe, and the Loop That Ties Them Together

For a long time, a summer weekend in Montgomery split cleanly in two. You either walked Liberty Street for antiques and a coffee, or you pointed the truck west toward Lake Conroe and stayed out there until the sun quit. The two halves rarely talked to each other. That is changing.

The stretch of Highway 105 between the historic district and the Margaritaville development has quietly filled in over the past few seasons. What used to be a drive is now a corridor of venues, and the city's 2026 event calendar reads less like a scattering of small-town traditions and more like a loop you can actually string together over a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday without repeating yourself. This is a guide to that loop, written for the people who already live here.

The Liberty Street Stretch

The center of downtown summer is still the block around 14220 Liberty Street, which is where the city stages most of its outdoor programming. The Lone Star Street Dance runs there quarterly, and the schedule this year puts the next one on a Saturday evening from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m.
